Daniel Craig Offered, But Declined, Lead Role In ‘Thor’?

DAMMIT MAN!!!!

Sure, we heard the rumors that current James Bond lead Daniel Craig was considered for the title role in “Thor,” but we didn’t think they were legit. One man playing both the smooth, international man of mystery and Marvel Comics’ Norse god of kicking magical villains’ butts? Not a chance.

Well, it looks like the rumors were not only true, but Craig was actually offered the role by Marvel Studios at one point.

During a recent “Quantum of Solace” press event, Craig revealed that Marvel did indeed approach him to play Thor, but he turned the role down. According to IESB, Craig said he declined the part because it would have been “too much of a power trip” to play both Bond and Thor.

As skeptical as we were about the casting, it does eliminate one more name from the pool of potential actors who could be wielding Thor’s magical hammer, Mjolnir, in July 2010. In fact, there’s been very little official news about the film thus far. The most recent reports have Mark Protosevich polishing the film’s script, and rumors that Kenneth Branagh will direct “Thor” have yet to be confirmed (even though he’s already cleared his schedule for the project).

SURRY, Va. -- Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick plans to plead guilty to state dogfighting charges, a step that could allow him to qualify for an early release from federal prison and into a halfway house, court papers show.

In a motion filed Oct. 15 in Surry County Circuit Court, Vick's attorneys asked to have him enter his plea by video teleconference. A hearing on the motion is scheduled for Oct. 30, Surry County Circuit Court administrator Sally Neblett said Tuesday.

The court papers note that allowing Vick to appear on two-way video would save the government the considerable expense of transporting him from prison in Leavenworth, Kan., to Surry County. His guilty plea would also allow him to pursue a halfway house program.

Under federal rules, Vick is ineligible to be released to a Residential Re-entry Center in the federal system until any pending charges against him are resolved.

In a statement, Vick attorneys Billy Martin and Lawrence Woodward said their client "is committed to taking responsibility for his actions. He is hopeful that, through this motion, the trial court will allow him to finally resolve these matters and put the charges behind him so that he can begin to focus on his future and to prepare to be reunited with his family."

The plea deal, if approved, also would satisfy the county's need to hold him accountable for the grisly crimes he bankrolled and participated in at a rural house he owned there.

"I'm not trying to make him suffer," Commonwealth's Attorney Gerald Poindexter said in a telephone interview. "I'm just trying to make him account for what he's done."

Vick pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges tied to the dogfighting operation last summer and is serving a 23-month term. Three convicted co-defendants also face local charges. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons lists Vick's projected release date as July 20, 2009.

Vick will have three years of federal probation upon his release from prison, and the deal offered by Poindexter would tack on an unspecified jail sentence, which would be suspended, and an additional year of probation in the county, he said.

Poindexter said he's not sure how quickly the judge would rule on the motion.

If permitted by a judge, Vick's video participation in the plea hearing would not be the first time he has participated electronically. Prison officials in Kansas have allowed the former Atlanta Falcons star to listen via telephone line to each of his several bankruptcy hearings in recent months.

Previous tests, performed in 1988, indicated the "Jesus Shroud" fabric was made between 1260 and 1390, more than a thousand years after Christ's death. But other tests have certified that the bloodstains are real and that the weaving pattern was identical to one used during the time of Christ.

Therefore, researchers will take a new look at the Shroud of Turin in another effort to prove the true age of the ancient burial cloth imprinted with the miraculous image of Jesus Christ.

There is a lot of other evidence that suggests to many that the Shroud is older than the radiocarbon dates allow and so further research is needed. Only by doing this will people be able to arrive at a coherent history of the shroud that takes into account and explain all the available scientific and historical information.

Researchers believe the cloth was contaminated by high levels of carbon monoxide before being examined, throwing the results off by 1,300 years.

Experts have also presented evidence that linen samples from the Shroud had been contaminated by material used to patch the fabric during the Middle Ages.

Very much inadequate. As much as I praise Him, I feel such a way. I have more to be thankful for than not. I have a roof. I have food. I have a car temporarily. I have life. Finances not so much. Pitiful. Can't even get outta this hole. Everyone around me is pretty decent financially but me. And cause of THIS frustration, I feel unhappy. Shame. I think I am a step ahead only to know that I am a step behind. Still single. Still broke. What is there to live for? I can barely myself happy without my money. I work almost for nothing. So how such I do this? I was driving behind a truck carrying logs. I kinda wish I woulda drove on up and let the logs come through the windshield. In one breath, I am praising Him. In the next breath, I am asking for strength and freedom. Yet I am still struggling. I don't blame Him nor do I curse Him. He has blessed me, but I don't like feeling like this. Maybe I should take the Vodka and pour it all over me like Richard Pryor did. Gon' dude, light my ass on fire. But I can't even do it... my family would have a fit. my homies would shake their heads at me. the one i have a crush on [number 10] would be disappointed. So what am I to do?? How do I get over this hump? But I can't go to hell from being fed up with life.. the unfairness of the economy, government, and love life. And the things I want... is pretty much unattainable. The cards have not been in my favor. My job don't appreciate me. I work to stay in debt cause I never get to breathe on my money... [long sigh] I stay frustrated... and I have been charged with taking my frustrations out on others... I don't. Guess this is why I am still alone.. I can't even stay to myself cause of the public.. so daily, I fake it.
